30 Nov 2006

Online casino fans in the US are obviously furious with the recently passed Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). Although some of them are expressing their anger by sending the Congress protest letters in conjunction with the Poker Players Alliance, others simply continue to bet at online casino sites like nothing has ever happened. Every player has its own way to express his feelings, but all of them has one thing in common – they oppose the US anti-online gambling law.

Online casino fans and players around the country agree that the current law won't stop them from continue playing online. Although the prohibition might make things a bit more difficult for them, there are plenty of loopholes in the law that will allow them to continue depositing and withdrawing money from the online casino sites. It is important to clarify the fact that the law doesn't make it illegal to bet at online casinos, but instead tried to tackle the financial transaction from, and to, the sites. In order to do that they will need the cooperation of the banks and credit card companies in the US, something which still has to be taken care of.

The Poker Players Alliance calls all those online casino fans affected by the law to protest the "Security and Accountability for Every Port Act", which was essentialy the gateway for the UIGEA. Only time will tell if the letters will have any effect at all, but one thing is for sure - online casino fans all around the US are doing as much as they can in order the alter the Congress decision.
